DIY Holiday

Our family recently acquired a piece from my husband's grandparents - a framed Christmas tree mounted on dark green velvet, made up entirely of his grandmother's old costume jewelry. I love it!

These are the kind of gifts that I find most delightful: ones where you can see the hand of the person who made it. While I can't profess to any kind of proficiency in knitting, sewing, needlepoint, carving, pickle making or cookie baking, I will happily pick up a glue gun and try my hand at a little DIY this holiday season.

Or at least do some last-minute holiday shopping on Etsy.

Thanks! Yes, I'm learning that this must have been a popular thing to do in the 1950's and 60's. A few other Duffy folks have identified that their grandmothers have the same thing at their homes.

I have one from my grandmother, got it as a gift over 10 years ago. My mom made them herself.
